Governing Forest Area through Law: Insights from Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025 on the Control of Forest Areas

On 21 January 2025, the President issued Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025 on the Control of Forest Areas (“ PR 5/2025 ”). This regulation principally governs forest area control through various measures, including the imposition of administrative fines, the reclaiming of forest areas, and asset recovery within forest areas.
